Elegant Monochromatic Card Inspiration | Kathleen Schmelz

Happy Wednesday, Pinkfresh Studio fans! Today it's Kathleen back on the blog and I wanted to share a quick, elegant card idea that doesn’t require a ton of ink blending and no stamping at all.

I wanted to revisit some older favorite products from earlier this year and give them a fresh moment to shine. The best part? This design is super adaptable—whether you’re drawn to bold colors, soft pastels, or a particular stamp or die you love, you can easily make it your own. It’s a great reminder that sometimes, the simplest techniques can be the most striking.

Here's how to create this card:

1. Cut an A2 panel from purple cardstock (should be lighter than Regal Kiss).
2. Die cut it using the Stitched Chain coverplate die.
3. Using a 1" blending brush, ink blend Regal Kiss all over the panel.*
4. Hot foil the Magnificent Magnolia image a few times with Satin Silver foil on an A2 panel of white cardstock.
5. Die cut the Decorative Circle die twice from the hot foiled cardstock (use the two largest dies).
6. Also hot foil the "You Make Life Beautiful" sentiment on a separate piece of white cardstock and die cut using the coordinating die. Ink blend Regal Kiss on top and wipe off excess.
7. Die cut two blank pieces of the sentiment and ink blend the edges with Regal Kiss, then stack up with the hot foiled sentiment & adhere to the center of the card panel.
8. Adhere the two die cut circles at the top and bottom using foam adhesive, leaving a bit less than half of each hanging off the edge. Trim off excess.
9. Embellish the circles with Clear Drops in Ice and Ombré Glitter Drops in Twilight.

*Note: You could also create this card with no ink blending at all and simply work with a dark colored cardstock instead.

This card is so easy to make and if you already have a dark color cardstock you like, you can simply skip the ink-blending steps and use the colored cardstock as is, making this card even quicker and easier!
