Ombre and Shine with Channin Pelletier

Ombre and Shine with Channin Pelletier

Hello Pinkfresh friends!! It’s Channin here and I have several holiday cards to share today all featuring the Merry Days Stamp Set and Merry Days Die!

I thought it might be fun to combine vibrant ink blended backgrounds with mirrored cardstock and heat embossing!! And best of all, these cards are a basically twofers!! I was able to create the second card in each set from the scraps left over from the first card!!

For my first set of cards, I first ink blended an A2 panel of with Fresh Pear, Meadow, Mermaid Cove, and Stargazer. I then centered the Merry Days Die over the panel and rain it through my die cutting machine. Once die cut I carefully removed the tree from the panel, being carefully to keep as many of the diecuts within the tree as possible. If any diecuts do fall out, I like to use a little bit of micropore tape on the backside of the tree to hold those loose diecuts in place.

Next, created a jig for ensure perfect alignment of my stamp with the die cuts. I did this by first stamping the tree image from the Merry Days Stamp Set onto a scrap A2 panel with my MISTI (after stamping, leave stamp on MISTI in exact same position). I then die cut out a separate sheet of paper with the with the Merry Days Die. I then removed the tree and all it’s inner diecuts. Next, I centered the tree over the stamped image. Once the tree was centered, I then grabbed the tree negative and inlaid it over the tree, trimming any excess cardstock when necessary and then using a tape runner to hold the tree negative in place. I then removed the tree.

Next, I popped the ink blended tree into the jig in my MISTI. I then applied anti-static powder, and then stamped the tree in Versamark and it heat embossed in silver. I then repeated this process with an A2 panel of mirrored silver cardstock, exact for creating the jig which you can reuse.

Once I had both a silver tree and ink blended tree stamped, I then removed the inner diecuts from the two trees and inlaid them in the opposite tree. Again using micropore tape on the backside of the tree to hold the inlaid diecuts in place. I then die cut the Merry Days tree twice out of craft foam and then adhered the trees onto the craft foam for dimension. I then adhered the remaining ink blended panel and silver panel onto an A2 top-folding card base and then adhered the craft foam trees. I then finished the cards with silver heat-embossed sentiments stamped onto strips and then ink blended over with Mermaid Cove and Stargazer.

For my next set of cards I started by ink blending an A2 panel with Candy Apple, Candy Violet, Soft Lilac, Slumber, and Stargazer.

I then repeated the same process as I did with the first two cards, again except for the jig which I had already made when I created the first set and just reused.

However, for this set I decided not to stamp and heat emboss the silver diecuts. I also used a white panel as a background instead of the silver panel for my second card.

And I created a sentiment using the Classic Holiday Word Dies out of white cardstock and vellum.

And that’s it!! I hope you enjoyed today’s cards!! Thank you so much for stopping by!
