Mixed Media Everyday Musings Layouts | Missy Whidden

Hey there, friends!  Missy here with a few new mixed media layouts featuring the Everyday Musings collection.  I recently got my hands on the Embroidered Blossoms Stamps and Dies, and I couldn't wait to use them on a project.  I began this page with a heart cut file by Paige Evans.  I cut it on the beautiful white and soft purple ombre paper and used the Pinkfresh Studio Liquid Watercolors to add some messy color behind it.  I used some of the floral and leaf stamps and dies to embellish all around my silly photos of my daughter.

I created these watercolor flowers by using the dies only.  I cut three different sized flowers on some watercolor paper and then coated them with water.  I mixed some of the watercolors together and dripped the color onto the flowers.  The paint spread and blended together to create these gorgeous flowers!  I stamped a few leaf and stems using black archival ink and then colored them in with the watercolors.  I used the matching dies to cut them out.

These flowers and leaves layer together so nicely.  I love how they add such pretty details to the large heart cut file.

I added some adhesive foam under my photos to give them some dimension and then added one of the dimensional heart stickers with a die cut sentiment on top of it.

These flowers were really easy to create since the dies do all the work.  If you love the look of fussy cut images, these are wonderful since you don't actually have to fussy cut anything.

I mixed and matched some of the puffy alphas for my title.  I curved it to match the shape of the cut file.  To get the color onto the background, I used a brush as well as some plastic packaging.

Here's one more close-up of this layout showing all the fun details under the photos.

For my second layout, I went in a completely different direction.  I used the Adore Alpha Dies to cut out all these fun letters to this quote.  I was inspired by one of the Everyday Musings die cuts with this quote, and I just had to enlarge it and make it a design element.  I used the dies and several patterned papers to cut all all the letters.  I love what this quote means to me because it is so true!  And this photo is so representative of my girls...things are usually imperfect and happen in a blur.  But that is what makes these moments sunshine and rainbows!

I wanted to go bright for this page and play on the reds, blues and yellows.  I created a very subtle sunburst pattern on the background using a stencil and the Liquid Watercolors.  I also used some gelatos.  I love having a watercolor background with all of the papers and embellishments on top of it.  Here you can see that I added some of the Everyday Musings layered heart stickers with some puffy heart stickers and some floral die cuts.

I kept the embellishments to a minimum since the quote and colors were pretty busy.  I also tucked in some blue tangled thread for another pop of color.

I added some adhesive foam under this bigger potted plant to create some depth.  I also added some machine stitching through each line of the quote.

I took apart some of the layered heart stickers and just used the little sentiment tabs in a few places.  Here you can see some of the starburst pattern on the background.  I cut the word "sunshine" on plain watercolor paper and used the Liquid Watercolors and gelatos to color them yellow.

I really love how this turned out.  Have you ever been inspired by a die cut or an embellishment?

I hope these layouts give you some fun ideas to try on your next project!  I love that you can get such different looks from the same collection.  You never know where one idea might lead once you start playing with those Liquid Watercolors!

Thanks for stopping by!
