The Holiday Crafting Season is upon us, and I couldn't be more excited!
I've been celebrating all week over on my blog, sharing heaps of Holiday ideas and a mini series, featuring my favorites from the most recent Pinkfresh release!
Today's cards were inspired by two things - my love of vintage mercury glass ornaments, and the need for mail-able Holiday designs.
My first card is a switch-up on the traditional shaker. It makes for a super mail-able alternative, that is just as sparkly and interactive!
To make a flat shaker, we simply swap out the foam adhesive, and use a super tacky double sided tape instead. The rest of the steps are all the same. I started with a white card base, and an acetate overlay in the same size. I adhered the gorgeous Geo Stars 2 die-cut over the acetate using a glue pen, and then added the scalloped trim, which was cut using the Simple Edgers set.
I added strips of strong double sided adhesive to all four sides of the overlay (the scalloped trim helps to hide the adhesive underneath), and adhered three sides down to my base. I filled the shaker with glitter and confetti. If using other shaker filler - such as rhinestones or sequins - it helps to ensure they are as flat as possible. This will help the shaker stay even and make for much easier mailing.
For my second card, I wanted to keep the vintage vibes going, but with a quicker design. It always helps to have a speedy option in the Holiday stash!
To start my card, I heat-embossed a sliver sentiment onto my card base, using the Merry Days set. I had heaps of fun building the wreath with the Layered Wreath die and different colors of cardstock. My love of this wreath just keeps growing as I use it more.
To finish off the card, I added in some stars, which were left over from my first card.
I hope these layered, yet mail-able cards make for some fun designs to add to your very own Holiday round-up!
Thanks for joining me today!
