Faux Colored Embossing Powder | Channin Pelletier

Faux Colored Embossing Powder | Channin Pelletier

Hello friends!! It’s Channin here and today I have a couple of cards to share featuring the Whole Lot of Awesome Stamp Set! I decided to play with colored inks and a faux colored embossing powder technique to create two clean and simple cards!

To create these cards I first positioned the sentiment from the Whole Lot of Awesome Stamp Set in the center of an A2 panel of white cardstock and then picked it up with my MISTI. Next, I stamped it in Bubble Gum dye ink onto the panel and then inked it up again and stamped it onto a second A2 panel made from white cardstock. I then kept the second panel in my MISTI and stamped the sentiment one more time but this time in Versamark ink and then heat embossed it in clear embossing powder. The clear heat embossing over the colored ink creates the look of colored embossing powder!

Next, I positioned all the flourishes around the sentiment, picked them up with my MISTI and then stamped them in Sparkling Rose on the two panels. Just like before, after I had stamped the flourishes on the second panel in Sparkling Rose I then stamped them a second time in Versamark ink and then heat embossed them in clear.

I then moved onto the leaves and birds. I first positioned the leaves around the sentiment, picked them up with my MISTI and then stamped them in Apricot onto the first panel. I then partially inked the bottom third of all the leaves in Clementine and stamped them again to create a gradation. I then repeated this process for the second panel and then stamped the leaves once more in Versamark and then heat embossed them in clear.

For the birds, I first stamped them in Sky Blue and then partially inked them up in Summer Shower and stamped them onto the first panel. I then repeated this process for the second panel and finished by stamping the birds in Versamark and then heat embossing them in clear.

I then ink blended over the second panel with Sapphire and Stargazer dye ink. The heat embossing resists the ink and protects the colored ink underneath. Once I finished ink blending, I then wiped the embossed sentiment and images clean with a dry towel. I then finished both cards by adhering the panels onto two A2 top-folding white card bases.

I hope you enjoyed today’s cards!! Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

What an awesome idea to achieve an embossed look without having to have the colored powders themselves. Thanks so much for sharing how you made these beauties! 😊❤️
