Expressions in Blue

Expressions in Blue

Hello friends, it's Kelly here today sharing a couple of cards, including a bonus card that I will share at the end of the post! I've been having fun using all of the new inks that were released at the end of last year, but hadn't really gotten to the "blues", so I wanted to use a few of the dreamy blues to create today's designs!
I'm also using lots of the new release products, which I'm completely in love with! For all of today's cards, I chose to use the beautiful Curvy Floral Vine stamp set paired with the new Intricate Mandala die and the Foliage Frame die. I'll link all other products as well as I explain my design process.
For this first card, I die cut the outlines using the Curvy Floral Vine die  and then I stamped the floral image using Fresh Pear and Olive ink for the leaves and for the flowers I used Slumber and Blue Jay ink for the two step flowers. I'm purely smitten with how these two shades of blue complement each other for these multi colored flowers. I also added some Blue Jay ink around the perimeter of a white piece of cardstock that measures 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches. Once I was done with the ink blending I used the Diagonal Stitched Rectangles dies to give that detail to the edges. I like doing this die cutting AFTER I do the blending so it eliminates any harsh lines that can happen during the blending process. I think that all of us, no matter how experienced we are with ink blending, sometimes end up with harsh edges.
I layered the mandala die onto the blended panel using foam squares and then added the floral images using additional foam squares. The sentiment, which is from the new Layered Bouquet stamp set , is heat embossed in gold onto a strip of vellum. I adhered it to the back of the blended panel using clear tape for security. The entire focal panel is added to a top folding white card base using additional foam squares. I also added some of the beautiful blue Essentials: Jewels here and there for added detail and sparkle.
My second cards uses the same images and colors, but I layered them onto a panel that has some slight blending around the edges with Fresh Pear ink and some ink splatter and then the Foliage Frame die is glued on top. This set the stage for the gorgeous die cut "prayers" word that is die cut using the new Phrase Builder: Sending die collection
I also added a heat embossed sentiment to complement the large die cut word that is from the new Leafy Decor stamp set. It is wrapped around the main panel and secured in the back with clear tape. The entire panel is adhered to a top folding A2 card base using ScorTape. I also added a few jewels to this card as well!
And here is the bonus card! I was having so much fun with the first two, I just didn't want to stop! As you can see, it is almost identical to the first card, with snippets from the second to create a perfect addition to the set! I did include a sentiment from a previously released set, but one of my favorites: Floral Vase .
I had so much fun creating these "expressions in blue" and I hope that you get a chance to pull out some of your favorite inks that maybe have been neglected! Thanks for joining me today!
