December Days Gift Wrap + Tags | Rebecca Luminarias

It's my favorite time of year for gift wrapping, although, I fully admit that I never need an excuse to wrap!  I've been waiting so long to play with the contents from the December Days collection and it does not disappoint!  This line is adorable!

First, of course, I had to make some tags.  I used the 3x4 journaling cards as my bases for each one--this technique means that the tags come together quite quickly since no measuring nor cutting is involved.

I generally pick and choose different elements to mix and match and layer.  The ornament card is the CUTEST card in the whole pack and almost by accident, I tried layering the little bird and branch die cut on top of one of the bulbs and fell in love!

I then chose a couple other die cuts and did the same thing, using foam dots to add dimension.  "Be Merry" ended up being a great main sentiment, though I couldn't resist adhering the "be filled with joy" sticker at the bottom, as well.

Some of the cards with the gold foil patterns around the edges looked like they'd make nice backing pieces so I layered them on with doilies.  If the top card was vertical, I matted the bottom card horizontally.  It makes the tag look a little bit bigger that way.

At Christmastime, you can't have a gift tag collection without a mention of Santa!  The trio of stockings card paired with the bird and present die cut just looked so perfect together...I added a couple of stickers, as well as a wooden button sticker (and a die cut candy cane for good measure :).

These stockings are all ready for the man in red to fill them on Christmas Eve.

For the next tag, I used a foil card in front this time, pairing up the gold snowflake with a color-blocked card behind it.  The simple addition of some scrunched up pink and navy tulle, along with a colorful "JOY" die cut is more than enough to make an impact.

Finally, this sweet deer against what could be a snowy evening if you use your imagination...This card is so smartly designed, leaving an abstract white space for journaling; it definitely looks like a wintry scene.  I was so sad to cover up the little red bird, but for this card, I opted for the larger scene-stealing deer.

Some twinkling gold stars fill the snowy sky, and there is absolutely the feeling of joy and wonder, to which my sentiments allude.  Pale pink tulle offers texture, along with the bold brush strokes of gold foil on the 3x4 card that's behind it.

These will be so fun to give this year...I have 3 nieces and a nephew who I was thinking of when I created these. (I hope my 3-year-old nephew won't mind a little very pale pink :)

For my second round of projects, I've gotten to the gift wrapping part.  I've done something a bit different, in that I combined December Days with the kit from my Pinkfresh Studio class, Wrapped {With Love}.  The class, if you couldn't tell by the name, is dedicated to all things gift wrapping.  It features a plethora of techniques, 6 of my very talented gift wrap-loving friends (and me!), and a very cute embellishment kit.  You can check out some details HERE if you're interested in learning more, and you can purchase a kit HERE.  By purchasing the kit, you gain automatic access to the class!  The kit ships free in the US, and there is a discounted rate for international shipping--woo-hoo!

At first glance, the WWL kit is not super-Christmasy.  However, when mixed with December Days, you'd be surprised at how festive it becomes!  Have a look...

There are 2 yards each of silver glitter ribbon and peach seam binding, which I've used many times on these packages.  Silver is a holiday staple for many people, and the peach ribbon is a great complement to all of the colors featured in DD, especially the blues!

I paired both trims with cute DD tags and a blue fringe bow which can also be found in the WWL kit.  A wood button and 2 mini sisal trees, and this little gift is ready to be given (trees are from Michael's).

A smaller take with similar items is this tiny box which surely contains something pretty and dainty.  I've wrapped the peach ribbon around it and tied it in a bow.  I made an adorable tag out of a December Days gold foiled die cut ornament, poked a small hole in the top and tied it on with metallic thread.  I even added a mini (real) green glass bulb real ornament, also secured with thread.

I slipped a natural bottle brush tree under the bow loops, then tucked a fringe bow under the ornament tag.  It not only adds texture, but also dimension and a pop of fun color.  This petite package is my favorite out of all of them!

And then there's this little slice of peppermint goodness!  The red and white striped tag is a December Days die cut, as is the candy cane peeking out from behind it.  I added the white leatherette bow, which is from the Wrapped {With Love} kit (those bows are amazing!!), and a band of silver glitter ribbon around the box itself.  A little tree is a fresh pop of green on this refreshing number.

If you want to keep things simple, how about wrapping your ribbon around the box a few times, overlapping each length slightly, adding 1 proportionate die cut--this one has a great design, as well as a great sentiment--and topping it all off with a textured silver bow?  So easy--and doesn't everything look like it was made to go hand in hand?

This box has a little more happening, bringing in some of the pinks from the WWL kit (DD has pink, too!), and pairing them with tags from DD.  "Feeling Festive" and "Fa La La..." are tags from December Days; the tag underneath "Fa La La..." is actually from Wrapped {With Love}.

This last little box packs a mighty punch!  I've used quite a few pieces here to create several layers with lots of color.  There are die cuts and stickers (both card stock and puffy), as well as a wood button sticker.  The puffy poinsettia stickers are tucked underneath "a few of my favorite things" die cut for extra depth--I usually try not to flatten everything so some extra height is always welcome.

From the Wrapped {With Love} kit, I used a large aqua polka dot tag as the base of the whole piece.  WWL comes with a stamp set that is perfectly suited for gift tags--I stamped "to:" on a small white tag (from DD) using the set.  The final pieces are both from WWL--a gorgeous yellow leatherette bow and a small scrap of peach ribbon.  This tag is so pretty and colorful, and definitely consists of "a few of my favorite things"!

I encourage you to look into the Wrapped {With Love} if you'd like to pick up a few new gift wrapping ideas, and you can also pick up December Days at your favorite retailer to make your holiday packages burst with color and festivity!  Happy Holidays!
