All Things Sweet & Simple! | Elsie Robinson

Hey friends, it’s Elsie here and I’m keeping things very sweet today because I’m sharing the first two layouts I made with the Simple & Sweet collection!

For my first layout I was inspired by all of the lemon images in the collection, so I got a little whimsical and created a cute summer scene with a lemonade stand as the main focus!

I used this cut file to create the stand, and backed it with patterns from the Happy Life and Simplicity papers. I also did some hand-stitching to not only add some texture but to create a more rustic look, which I think fits well with the cutesy lemonade theme.

Pinkfresh ephemera die-cuts are always one of my favourite parts of their collections, because there is always such a good variety of pieces to use. For this page I used larger pieces like the flowers to cluster around the base of the stand, and also the smaller pieces like the lemon basket and drinks to decorate the top of the stand.

There are so many gorgeous alphas in the Simple & Sweet collection, but the cornflower blue puffy alphas are one of my all-time favourites! I used them to spell out the word ‘lemonade’ and placed them on top of the stand to create the look of a sign.

And finally I used one of the stitched frames to frame my photo, which adds some amazing detail to the page with very little effort!

For my next layout I went even sweeter with a baking themed page! I love baking so I have loads of photos of cakes I’ve made that still need to be documented, and this collection was perfect for doing so.

I started by backing two different cut files: a mixer and the two cake slices. I used the mint green side of the Good Company paper to back the mixer and stitched around the edge with white thread. And for the mixture in the bowl, I used a small lemon pattern from the Fresh Air paper, to make it look as if there is lemon cake mix in the bowl!

I used a couple of stamp sets on this page: The Love Scale and Tealightful Day sets. I stamped the scales and teacup using black ink onto patterned papers from and fussy-cut them out. It’s fun to look through your stamp stash and find images which work with your theme.

To create my title I used a mixture of alphas, I used the cornflower blue set again as well as the mini gold set. And I don’t know about you, but my recipes are always written down on a crumpled piece of paper and are usually covered with splatters of cake mix, so I wanted to recreate this look and put my title on there!

To do that I created a notebook edge on some white card and layered a couple of scraps of paper behind it. I scrunched and folded the edges to create texture and I used a chipboard embellishment to make it look like it was hung up by a push-pin or magnet.

And of course, I couldn’t resist adding the leaves from the gold puffy sticker embellishments to add some more shine to the page.

Thanks for joining me today everyone, I hope you’re inspired to document all things sweet with this new collection!
