Designer Spotlight | Lorilei Murphy

It's the start of a new month, which means we have a new Designer Spotlight! For the month of July, we are highlighting the amazing Lorilei Murphy. Lorilei is relatively new to the Pinkfresh Studio family, but her gorgeous style is a perfect fit! We adore having her on the team!

How about we get to know Lorilei a little better?

Hello!  My name is Lorilei (pronounced Lauralee) and I am from just north of Calgary, Alberta Canada!  I live on a farm with my 14 year old daughter and husband of 26 years.  I love to craft, watch movies and read!

What inspired you to start paper crafting?
I was inspired to start paper crafting after I started Project Life.  I wanted to try the creative side of memory keeping and scrapbooking had always been of interest to me!

What best describes your paper crafting style?
I think my paper crafting style is best described by “try it all” I love simple and clean, mixed media, vintage, over the top layered and much more!

What draws you to Pinkfresh Studio products?
What draws me to Pinkfresh Studio products is the unique combination of modern and clean combined with homey and thoughtful designs.  There is absolutely a uniqueness to Pinkfresh designs that I have never seen anywhere else.  Bold clean lines are softened with pretty florals or heartfelt sentiments.  The products are so easy to use!

Please list your top 5 current Pinkfresh Studio Products:
A Case of the Blahs - The colours the sentiments it is just so real life and fun!!
Liquid Watercolors - Amazing quality and the colours are bang on!!
Sweet & Simple collection - Be still my shabby heart, I love the soft colors with the crisp modern vibe!
The Mix #2 alphas - I could use these on everything!  The size and the colors are amazing!
Let Your Heart Decide - This collection speaks for itself.  I had no idea I would love the colour combinations as much as I did!

What is your very favorite color combo?
My very favourite colour combination is anything + pink!

What is one tip you have for someone just getting started in paper crafting?
My one tip for someone starting out crafting is to buy the highest quality tools you can afford and don’t get too much stuff to begin with. Use it up before you buy more!!

We think that is some great advice! Isn't it awesome to get to know our designers a little bit more? Thank you, Lorilei, for taking the time out to answer these questions and share about your papercrafting journey so far!

Lorilei created a GORGEOUS new layout for her Designer Spotlight, which you are going to just love! Here is her creative process for it in her own words:

I seriously needed a moment when I opened the Simple and Sweet Collection!  The colors are divine and the sentiments make me think of carefree days and pretty things!  I got out my Pinkfresh Studio Liquid Watercolors and along with some white paint, I mixed paints to match the colors in Sweet and Simple.

I added some simple pain strokes on my white background with a large brush and let them dry (the black paint is from my stash).  I decided to cut some big butterflies from the S&S papers and layered the patterned papers with white card stock butterflies and wrapped the layers up with thread.

I found the perfect sentiment on the mint chipboard piece and all that was left was to add sprinkles of enamel dots and beautiful gold hearts!

Thanks so much for joining me today!

We asked Lorilei one final question, which we think is super fun to include in these Designer Spotlight posts!

Do you have a past favorite project you've created with Pinkfresh Studio product that you'd like to share? Why is it your favorite?
I do have a past favourite project!  It is a layout I made called Move Mountains. It was the first time I had really successfully (in my opinion) made a layout that for me reflected a modern and clean look.  I held myself back and even removed items that I was going to add.  There is still interest, dimension and layers and I was so happy with the final page and the photo as to how it made me feel!!

Lorilei has a GIVEAWAY going on at her Instagram feed today! It will be up this morning! Find this image on her feed, and follow all the prompts:

One lucky winner will receive this Simple & Sweet collection prize package!! Best of luck...now get to commenting!! You have until next Friday, July 6th at 5pm CST. Lorilei will draw & post the winner in the same giveaway post that evening.
