Designer Spotlight | Kathleen Graumüller

It's the start of a new month, which means we have a new Designer Spotlight! For the month of May, we are highlighting the amazing Kathleen Graumüller. Kathleen creates gorgeous layouts that are modern & clean, but full of artistic touches!

How about we get to know Kathleen better with a little interview:

What inspired you to start paper crafting?
I can’t even really remember how I discovered scrapbooking. But I do know that I was hooked from the beginning! I started scrapbooking in 2012, but when I say started "scrapbooking", I actually mean started buying scrapbooking supplies, haha. It wasn’t until the (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day 2013 when I finally made my first layout, inspired by all the challenges going on around the Internet. This also means that in a few days I have my 5 year-scrappiversary :D

But the reason I like scrapbooking apart from documenting and preserving memories, is the creative aspect of it. And also the community that comes with it. I have gotten to know so many awesome, inspiring and talented ladies through this hobby, both online and offline, which makes me really happy!

What best describes your paper crafting style?

I would describe my scrapbooking style as modern and clean with lots of white space but also with girly, and especially floral elements. Of course everyone’s style changes and evolves, but white space (and white cardstock), paint splatters and floral elements are what you will usually find on my layouts (and hidden journaling).

What draws you to Pinkfresh Studio products?
I really love the modern and fun designs of the PFS products, especially that the collections always include a lot of white on the papers, which fits my style really well. Besides, I think PFS just has a very distinctive style and isn’t afraid to be "different“ and I like that!

Please list your top 5 current Pinkfresh Studio Products.

In no particular order:
1. Let Your Heart Decide - Puffy Stickers
2. The Mix No. 2 - Alphabet Puffy Stickers
3. Let Your Heart Decide - Layered Stickers
4. Fleur 1+2 Stamp Sets
5. Let Your Heart Decide - Papers

...can you tell I love the LYHD collection?! ;)

What is your very favorite color combo?
This changes every now and then and also depends a bit on my mood or the season, but a combination that always works for me is white, black, gold, apricot and mint/turquoise.

What is one tip you have for someone just getting started in paper crafting?

Just start and don’t compare yourself to other crafters out there! It’s nice to look at other people’s work for inspiration, but it completely spoils the fun when you start to compare your work to theirs or try to imitate them. You will find your own style, just give it time :) And have fun!

We think that is some great advice! Isn't it awesome to get to know our designers a little bit more? Thank you, Kathleen, for taking the time out to answer these questions and share about your papercrafting journey so far!

Kathleen created a GORGEOUS new layout for her Designer Spotlight, which you are going to just love! Let's hear a little more from Kathleen about herself, and this amazing layout!

Hey friends, it’s Kathleen here and I am very excited to be this month‘s Designer Spotlight!

You already got to know the "Scrapbooker Me" a bit better through the questionnaire but I thought I would tell you a thing or two about me :) I am a 20-something year old coffee addict, dog mom and crazy plant lady from Germany who loves all things scrapbooking related.

Whenever I am not scrapping, you can either find me together with my husband in Barcelona (my favourite place on Earth), or at least daydreaming about Barcelona.

But enough about me ;) let’s have a look at the project I made for today. Because this blog post is something special, I decided to do something a little bit different from what I usually make. Just recently I had gotten my hands on the stamps from the last release and specifically the two big stamp sets Fleur I and II caught my attention.

So for today‘s layout I used no patterned paper at all, only white cardstock and the stamps from the Fleur I stamp set to create my background. I wanted to create some sort of frame around my two photos that show my husband and me and him and our dog on our wedding day. I made sure to use waterproof black ink so I could then add some watercolour to some of the stamped images.

Because I didn’t want to take the attention away from the photos and the stamped flowers, I only added a few subtle embellishments like the Let Your Heart Decide Epoxy Heart Stickers, some cardstock stickers and some pieces from the LYHD ephemera pack.

I repeated the heart shape with some of the wonky hearts from the Mix No. 2 Puffy Hearts Stickers and one from the LYHD washi stickers.

And since there wasn’t enough space for a big title, I just used the Let Your Heart Decide Stamp Set to stamp the „A New Chapter“ phrase, which I thought was really appropriate, beneath my photos.

And that’s it. This page came together really quickly and I am absolutely in love with the stamped flowers! I think they look stunning and I already know what I want to do next with them: make my own patterned paper that I can use together with the rest of the LYHD collection. I think these stamps fit that collection perfectly!

I hope you like my project! Let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for stopping by!

~Kathleen

We asked Kathleen one final question, which we think is super fun to include in these Designer Spotlight posts!

Do you have a past favorite project you've created with Pinkfresh Studio product that you'd like to share? Why is it your favorite?

It’s tough to pick a favourite, but as I went through my past projects that I made using PFS products, I came across this one and it definitely is one of my favourites. For one thing because I loved the "Escape the Ordinary" collection and that it made me try different colour combinations from what I usually use. And it not only shows my style really well (white space, paint splatters), but is also about one of my favourite things or rather places in the world: Barcelona!
