Birthday Florals | Jenny Colacicco

Birthday Florals | Jenny Colacicco

Hi Everyone, it's Jenny here, and today I have a soft and pretty birthday card to share using the recently released layering stencils.

At the start of a new year I like to replenish my birthday cards. I never seem to have enough in my stash,  or am just never able to find one when I need it!  The beautiful Garden Florals Layered Stencil set is a really versatile image - perfect for almost any occasion - just change up the colors to suite the mood (or recipient).

To create my card, I started out by die cutting the image with the Garden Florals coordinating die.  This helps me to line up  my stencils perfectly.  I moved in stencil order - they're all labeled 1-5 - but held off stencil 4 until the end.  For the large florals, I used a light hand blending Candy Violet and then edged with Seaside to add light blue tips.  I reblended again briefly with Candy Violet to create a seamless blend.

For the smaller florals I used Soft Lilac ink with Seaside edging, and just Seaside for the tiny buds.  For the stems, I used Misty Coast and Warm Buff. I also used Warm Buff for the flower centers.

For layer 4, I added some clear holographic glitter gel for some sparkly subtle highlights and then set aside to dry while I worked on my background.

My background uses the Layered Sunburst Stencil set, and features some of the same colors I used on my florals to coordinate - Warm Buff, Soft Lilac and Candy Violet - fading out towards the edges.    When my florals were dry, I die cut the coordinating die again from 110lb cardstock and adhered it to the ink blended piece to create a more sturdy element (helpful to avoid bending due to the glitter gel), and mounted to background panel with foam squares.

My sentiment is from the Essentials: Classic Words dies. I swiped the Seaside ink on 110lb cardstock and then die cut the inner layer of 'Happy Birthday'. I die cut the outer layer from vellum and adhered them both together with liquid glue. I then mounted the piece using clear foam adhesive onto the florals, then mounted the entire panel onto a notecard.

I finished with a few Essentials: Jewels in purple and dark blue to coordinate.   I love how the Sunburst peeps out around the edges of the flowers -  it's subtle but really adds the illusion of light don't you think?

I hope I've inspired you to add to your birthday card stash this new year - stay safe and have a wonderful day!

Jenny
