I don't know if you've been noticing, but Pinkfresh Studio has really upped their stamping game over the last year. Every collection release is accompanied by a dozen or so stamp sets. While I love acquiring stamp sets, I'm not a patient stamper, so I don't use them too much. However, I've been trying harder lately to do more with them. This month, I broke out a few PF sets and made some mini cards and gift bags with them.
My son (6) and daughter (4) are at the ages where we're getting invited to more and more birthday parties all the time. I always ask the parents what their children are into, but pretty much always decide to go with a gift card if we don't know the family that well. The Party Animal stamps by Lizzie M are so cute and so perfect for kids' birthdays so I made one girl and one boy card and gift card packaging set.
There's something about the style of these little animals that I just love. Their modern graphics mixed with the fonts of the sentiments make for some pretty fun cards, especially for young kids. Who can resist a bear in a party hat? I made the card first, with an idea in my head for the gift bag, which I knew would be a muslin bag with a stamped image on it.
As I mentioned, I'm not an expert-level stamper, so I kept the stamping pretty simple, and aded a few other elements to liven up the card, which are all 3" x 4", by the way. I stamped the bear image in black, and then lightly colored in the party hat with a mint marker to fit in with my orange, mint, yellow, and black color scheme. Running along the bottom of the card is a scrap of orange paper ('Delight'), with a couple of details--the yellow die cut star and "Hello Fun" paper scrap, all from Dream On.
I wanted to add a few more stamps so I stamped the "Fun Fun Fun" phrase in orange, and a border of tiny mint triangles at the top. The last pieces were the washi triangles.
With the card complete, it was onto the bag. I chose a 3 x 5 cotton bag and stamped the bear again, just like I had done on the card. Borrowing the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from Birthday Love, I stamped it above the bear in orange. Both inks are Tsukineko Memento dye inks, FYI.
The bag is small and I wanted the stamped images to be my main focal points, so I chose to add only some minor elements to decorate the bag. On a small white tag, I repeatedly stamped the triangle banner. I then took a striped circle die cut from Dream On and stamped a T on it, which is the initial of one of my son's friends. The T is from the Nico Alpha stamp set, which matches the acetate alphas from Live More, in case you didn't know. It was perfect for this package, though, with it's line of triangles going up the center of the letter. Capitalizing on mint and triangles one more time, I used a scrap of fabric to add some texture, along with a handmade tassel.
And last but not least, I created a matching envelope for the card out of 'Delight' paper. I kept this simple, just adding another washi sticker in matching colors to close the flap. It's modern, maybe a little hipster-ish, but so fitting for the 6-year-old personality it's going to!
The next set is for a little girl so I chose the flamingo stamp for her, stamped in a peachy-pink ink, both on the card and the matching gift bag. I sort of went with the same color scheme here, but in different shades, swapping out aqua for the mint, coral for orange, and leaving black and yellow as is. The color of the ink and the strip of scalloped washi from Dream On set the tone. I stamped tons of yellow stars along the top of the card; that stamp is from the Little Love set, which you'll see more of in a bit! To break up the cluster of tiny stars, I added one large rose gold star from the Live More alpha stickers.
Finally, I stamped "Yippee" in yellow and added a scrap of black and white dotted washi, which I trimmed off of a diamond "magic" sticker. Just that pop of black does so much for this card! You don't always have to use stickers and labels AS IS--don't be afraid to alter or trim the piece you need.
The bag is, again, a 3 x 5 muslin bag, and after stamping the flamingo, I added the "Party Time" sentiment in black, also from the Party Animal set.
For tags and texture, I didn't stray far from my original set, using a stamped tag (the stars from Little Love in repetition again), a tassel, and a striped circle Dream On die cut, this time with a Live More alpha M. For the textured fabric element, I chose pale pink tulle tied in a bow.
I made a smaller envelope this time, for variation, opting for a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" gift card size here. I chose the peachy-pink and yellow "Simple" pattern from Live More. I hope the little girl it's going to will love it as much as I loved making the set, but if not, I'm sure she'll enjoy picking out something special from Target!
My final project today is another mini card and gift bag, but this set is for a new baby. While I had out all my supplies and stamp sets, I couldn't resist creating something cute with the animals and sentiments from the Little Love set. I don't have anyone to give this to at the moment, but I know I'll be able to use it in the future.
I followed the same guidelines here that I did on the other two sets, starting by stamping the little bunny and star balloon in aqua on a white mini card. The orientation of this card is different, though, as I chose landscape over portrait. I wanted to do something with the rainbows from Dream On, so I took the layered chipboard piece with a rainbow, cloud, and stars and placed it next to the bunny.
Rainbows, clouds, and stars...they're pretty magical and dreamy, I'd say, so I chose the dream theme with my sentiment. The last touch for the card was the XOXO puffy sticker. Since this set is for future use, it's got a neutral-ish color palette.
I stamped the bunny again on the bag, but this time in orange because the aqua ink wasn't showing up too well. I also stamped another dream-related quote on the bag.
The tag set is different than the first two, though there are some similarities. On a large scalloped tag, I placed an orange washi circle sticker and laid a striped die cut bow and orange puffy heart over it. I layered that with a stamped sentiment tag ("So tiny, so loved..."). The final touches were aqua seam binding and a blue baker's twine tassel to match the colors on the card.
I made another gift card-sized envelope out of the backside of the 'Spring Icons' paper from Dream On. It's nice to know that I have this set all made up for the next new baby announcement or shower that comes along--we don't seem to go too long without having a new little one to celebrate these days!
Thanks for joining me today...I hope you're inspired to play with your Pinkfresh Studio stamps and make some cute cards and gift bags, too!
